Fundamental Baptist Church of Oumé

Oumé is a town made up of about 30,000 Africans, with the majority being Muslim. In 1997, Zama Ambroise was given a burden from God to reach the town of Oumé with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He went by faith with very little support to do what God placed in his heart. Through the years he and his family have ministered to the people of Oumé and they run a Church of about 50 people. The growth of the Church has been small physically but God has done great things spiritually. Part of the reason for a small congregation, was the fact that he is holding services in the living room of the house he rents and has no where else to hold services. The house is pictured below:

In the summer of 2002 Keith and Rebecca Shumaker were invited to Neighborhood Gospel Missions summer camp as the missionaries of the week. Each year the campers take an offering after the missionary hour. Through the years, they have raised thousands of dollars for missions. This summer, God placed upon the heart of Keith Shumaker to raise money for a Church building for the Fundamental Baptist Church of Oumé. The kids along with the counselors raised $5000 for the building. The plan was to start building in January of 2003 but it was put on hold because of the war. Praise the Lord he has allowed us to come back in September of 2003 and we have started the construction of this church building in November of 2003. Pictured below is the land that we have bought and are building on.

We have just about finished with the construction. The church building is beautiful. When we started we didn't have enough money to complete the work but God has given us the rest. It is amazing to watch the way that God works through His people. Here is a picture of the building now:

On November 6th, we were able to dedicate this church to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We were prividledged to have evangelist/missionary Bro. Duane Moore with us. He preached this great service and the people were thirlled. Below are a few pictures from the church dedication:
