Since coming to Burkina Faso in 2005 we have been looking for land in the city of Ouagadougou. We bought 5 acres (Tingandogo) on the edge of town that will be good for the future(two to three years from now). We are in the process of trying to obtain other land in new neighborhoods but that will be for the future. We have felt in order for the ministry to really grow, we needed to have a piece of land in the middle of town. From this land we can build our model church, one in which will reproduce. They don't know what a Baptist Church is supposed to be so we felt it would be necessary to create a church to be the model. Praise the Lord we found a piece of land in a neighborhood called Cissin. We bought two lots.
We started the work in January 2007 on Sunday Nights. A few weeks later, we felt that we needed to start Sunday mornings because of the great response on Sunday nights. We are currently running about 40 adults and 20 kids on Sunday morning.
Below are some pictures of the land and our current storage building that is being used as our church.
Mid-April 2007, the church members
started digging the foundation. It took us about 4 weeks to complete
it and we worked extremely hard. The men dug the holes, (sometimes the
women helped dig also), the women cooked and hauled the dirt outside.
Working together has produced great unity within the church. Here are
a few pictures of the church members working.
